I’ve tested out The New Weight Watchers app…

And I loved it!

Counting “smart points” (another term and totally different way of counting the well known calories), is so easy with the brand new Weight Watchers app. As you all know I have been really struggling with losing weight, but with the Weight Watchers app, I have been able to track everything in the right way.

Next to using their app, I have also visited their meetings, which one of them was actually next to my house! The meetings differ each time you visit them. The group was mostly elderly people, so I’m guessing that the more younger generation tends to work only digital (that’s also something that I prefer over the meetings). It is good to visit a meeting every once in while, since you get the chance to get up on a scale and it forces you to do your best if you have a goal ahead.

All things together, I’m curious to find out what the New Weight Watchers will hold for me in the future!

The Goods
  • The app has a great variety of different recipes available if you're looking for some good inspiration. It has also made it possible to scan certain items (e.g. pasta) and it will recognize what it is!
The Bads
  • The app is not available in all countries, I of course only tested out the Dutch app - I'm curious to see if other foreign countries have other recipes that maybe match the country!

My secrets for long, shiny & healthy hair

My secrets for long, shiny & healthy hair

by Beauty Biker May 7, 2019
written by Beauty Biker

I often get the question, how I get my hair so thick and shiny. I have tried several things with my hair – and I’m sharing my secrets below…

First of all, your genetics play a big part in how your hair looks and feels. Since I’m a full blood Persian, I am naturally gifted with a lot of hair. To get my hair the way it looks almost every day, I have incorporated some steps in my routine.

Let’s start off with washing hair! Some girls wash their hair every day (!), but I can’t imagine myself doing that. Washing my hair takes quite some time. I wash my hair every three days, because that’s when I feel like my hair is ‘dirty’. While washing my hair, I currently use Eucerin, which is free from silicones, parabens and colorants.

Every now and then I still have an itchy scalp, but I think that’s mostly because I shower really hot… So tip number 2: Shower and rinse your hair with cold water: Of course, I (and I think you too) cannot shower with water as cold as Winterfell, but I do rinse my hair with cold water after every shower. There are multiple benefits from rinsing your hair with cold water:

  1. Shiny hair – The cold water closes your hair’s cuticles, which leads to shiny hair
  2. Bye Bye Frizz – Your hair will not be as frizzy as it was before
  3. Eliminates dandruff – Yeah, that’s why my scalp was always so itchy! The hot water will irritate your scalp, but the cold rinse will circulate blood better around that area.

After I shower, I always use a hairdryer to dry my hair. With the warm weather coming, I am air drying my hair more and more, to prevent damage. Either way, I first spray a heat resistance spray in my hair. After that, I use my defo ‘holy grail’ of John Frieda, which is the “Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixer”. This product has changed my hair for the good: it has softened my hair and my former, frizzy hair is now almost gone.

The heat protecting spray is necessary to keep my hair from getting split ends etc.: I use my hair straightener every three days to get straight or curly hair – yes, I don’t curl my hair with a curling wand and I most definitely don’t curl it every day! A curling wand has never worked for me: the curls usually would fall out within two minutes, so I found that using my straightener does the job for me. I will post a short curling tutorial on YouTube soon!

I hope you enjoyed my post – Let me know in the comments or on Instagram what you would like to see/read next!

Bikergirl SKINCARE routine

by Beauty Biker April 12, 2017
written by Beauty Biker

I recently started with taking care of my skin. Say whaaat! As a biker chick, I mostly ‘hide’ my face in my helmet when I’m riding, which means that my skin can’t breath…

Hockey Boston GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

I got issues with my skin after I got 20 (I am 22 years old at the moment) – They say that your skin looks the best when you’re under 20 years old ; Welp, now I know! Before I always thought: Why in the world should you buy these expensive creams?! I thought it was MADNESS. (Still think it is, due to the price, but okay).

So. After a long search on the internet, I FINALLY found some information regarding a correct step-by-step skincare routine. Who thought it would be this difficult to find one? Anyways, now I have the knowledge, I set up a skincare Step-By-Step routine for girls with combination skin.

Day care:

  1. Clean your skin with cleansing milk and/or toner (I use Lancaster Softening Cleansing Milk + Lancaster Softening Toner)
  2. Wash your face with cold water
  3. ADDITIONAL: Apply a serum (I use Olaz Regenerist Luminous or Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair)
  4. Wait approx. 3 minutes, so your serum gets in your skin
  5. Hydrate your skin with a moisturizer (I use Clarins Crème Désaltérante)
  6. Use an eyecream (I use Clinique Pep Start)
  7. Wait approx. 15 minutes, so your moisturizer gets in your skin – You can eat your breakfast in the meantime!
  8. Most important step: Apply an SPF! I use a tinted SPF, factor 30 for my face. For my body (especially hands and neck area) I use a sunscreen with factor 6 / 15. A regular brand SPF will do it’s job.
  9. Additional: Foundation and the rest of your make-up 😉

So let me give you some more information about step 8: I got my tinted SPF at a Dutch make-upstore, called Douglas. Since I want to take good care of my skin, I am sure that letting my skin breath more will help. This means; NO FOUNDATION! That’s why I’m super happy with my tinted sunscreen. It changes to my own skintone, has SPF 30 (doh it’s sunscreen) and it reduces the redness in my face. Not extreme like foundation, but it okay for me!

Foundation looks really pretty, if you choose the right color for your skin ;-)! But I just don’t feel like it anymore. I have a lot of problems with finding the right color match and I’m okay with my ‘redness’ showing a bit through. I always said: Using foundation will make your skin look bad! I started using foundation since about 2 years ago, almost daily, and I think that foundation is the cause of my skin problems. So – I stopped using it since a couple of weeks now.

Lately I see a lot of girls slapping on so. much. makeup, which made me more aware of a girls ‘natural beauty’. Since I started my skincare routine, I also started with the ‘less-is-more’ strategy. No foundation, and no crazy contouring (I never did it, because I don’t know how lol). But… I am still a big fan of good looking eye makeup! For my everyday look, I use a skintone eyeshadow and mascara. I used to apply eyeliner every day, but that’s also out of my routine. Not using an eyeliner will show off my long eyelashes, which I got from my momma! (Sorry girls, no special ‘how to’ for this!). On other days, I like to go wild with my eye makeup and wear something with smokey eyes or blue eyeliner (to match my Yamaha R6). Also, my brows are naturally gifted. I do sometimes fill them with a black pencil, but that’s only if I’m feeling like it or when I over plucked them *cry gif*

Don’t let me forget the most important part of the day! Night care:

  1. Clean your face with cleansing milk
  2. Clean your face with a toner
  3. Apply a serum
  4. Apply your night cream (I use Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Gel Cream)
  5. Apply an eyecream

Applying eyecream at night makes my eyes look more awake in the morning. I’m still trying to figure out if applying eyecream in the morning is better than doing it in the morning…

So – That’s it for my skincare! I’m not a beautyguru, but I’m just trying out stuff to find out what’s the best for me.

Hope it helps!

xoxo

Helmet hair makes you feel like…

Helmet hair makes you feel like…

We’ve all been there before. Washing our hair, combing it, getting ready for a fun day on our motorcycle. But, the struggle is real if you have long hair. Let me explain!

1. Combing – but knowing it will all be useless.

Yup, that hair won’t stay like that!

2. Braiding hair like a pro

Being aware of what will happen with it if you have layered hair… Not so much fun.

3.  Taking off your helmet
beyonce-braid
How you feel like when you take of your helmet – YAS QUEEN!

4. How you actually look like

Well… That’s less charming than you thought.

5. Not wearing braids but going 80 mph/130 kmh

WHY!!!

6. Trying to take care of tangled hair

Well… Yup. That’s not what I expected.
I’ve been there, experienced it all. And until this day I am STILL regreting my choice of cutting my hair in layers. You can read why in this blogpost. Nonetheless, I’m being creative with helmetproof hairstyles and I’m testing everything! I also have a great solution to detangle your hair easily. Follow me on Instagram to stay up-to-date!

Why you should NEVER cut your hair in layers

Why you should NEVER cut your hair in layers

by Beauty Biker April 11, 2016
written by Beauty Biker

So… Here comes an emotional story of my hair and me.

No, I’m kidding. Not emotional, just informational! About three weeks ago, I went to the hairdresser to get my hair cut. It was so long, I was quite done with it. First, I wanted to cut it all off and make a bob out of it… But the BF doesn’t like that and well, I’m so used to my long hair that it was too scary for me. I decided I wanted to get some layers in my hair.

My hairdressers always told me not to cut my hair into layers, because it would frizz too much. I asked her this time and I said that I really liked the layers. She told me that it was not a problem at all. Once seated, she started cutting off my hair. I texted my BF and joked I was going for a bob, but a second after that I saw 15cm of my hair. falling. down.

Shock.

Seriously. I was so shocked. She started cutting all the layers and my hair just got thinner and thinner. If you have seen me in RL, you know that I HAD really long and thick hair. Anyways… These layers are a pain in the ass, but it will force me to create unique hairstyles. I’m curious too to see what I can do with it! I already have some cool ideas 😉

Stay tuned for bikergirl hairstyles!
Love,
Beauty Biker
