On Saturday the 28th of September, BMW Motorrad invited me to join them on their Pure & Crafted festival. This was also the day that I went to the store opening of the new Intimissimi store in Amsterdam (blogpost coming soon). The main reason for me to check out the Pure & Crafted festival was the mix between bikes and lifestyle. When I arrived at the spot, the whole venue had a ‘heritage’ / ‘vintage’ feeling.
“In terms of style, the programming stays eclectic, covering rock, folk, alternative and adjacent flavors. Less adrenaline-soaked but just as impressive, the International Custom Bike Show in the Wheels Area offers a grand vista of beauty in steel, rubber and gasoline. Customizers from around Europe present achingly beautiful bikes and let us in on a few tricks of the trade, showing off the art and craft that goes into the creation of unique designs. See, experience and chat about the painstaking handiwork that goes into top-level bike customization, while grabbing a lekker bite to eat!” – PureandCrafted.com
Ofcourse, one thing that I could not miss was the Press launch of the BMW Motorrad Heritage Lifestyle Collection 2020. They displayed both a male and female model wearing an outfit of their new range. Everything looked crisp and clean, but I still had some questions on top of my mind to ask! So that’s why I shook hands with Christian Cartsburg from BMW Motorrad, who knows everything about the brand new Heritage Lifestyle collection. Christian told me that BMW Motorrad always strives for the best protection possible – which is ofcourse key when it comes to creating riders gear.
When it comes to fashion, they did strive to create riderswear that does not look like gear. Now, we know it’s very fashionable these days to wear ‘bikerboots’ and ‘leather bikerjackets’ – and there are tons of options available in the fasion industry, but none of them with real protection. But now, BMW Motorrad has stepped up their game and come with their own line of true bikergear. One of the questions I had, was if their designteam thought of the female figure, meaning to create more tailored fit clothing. And the answer to that question is… Y-E-S! They did! All the gear of the 2020 collection has a special female (waisted) cut > so guess who’s happy. I am!
Lets get back to stuff that you could do at the venue. Lets start off with… FOOD. There were so many amazing foodtrucks, serving the best pulled nacho’s and more. I’m drooling as we speak. But there was also an old school barbershop where men could get shaved (for free!). So of course, Bram went in for a shave as I went to… cuddle a cute dog. *insert dog pic … HERE!*
There was also a whole area filled with custom built motorcycles. From weird, almost non rideable bikes to more old school/ modern, sophisticated ones. In one of the corners stood a friend of mine, Arjan van den Boom, who’s the owner of Ironwood Custom Motorcycles. He is, in all honesty – not because I know him, one of the best bike builders in my opinion! If you’re interested in his creations, check out his Instagram page HERE, or the pictures down below.
That being said – I’m excited for next years Pure & Crafted Festival – I hope to see a lot more people (you guys!) and a lot more custom bikes, maybe even an area where you can get information on how to start with customizing your bike.
That’s all for now! Until next time.
